The concept of Norden
Begreppet Norden används
numer som en gemensam beteckning för de fem länderna
Sverige, Finland, Norge, Danmark och Island. Det var under 1800-talet
som begreppet Skandinavien ersattes av Norden.
Ursprungligen var det Sverige och Norge som då avsågs.
I begreppet Norden innefattades så småningom även
Danmark, Island och Finland.
The concept
of Norden - the Nordic countries - is nowadays used as a common
notion menaning the five nordic countries, Sweden Finland Norway
Denmak and Iceland. During the 19th century the notion of Scandinavia
was replaced with the concept "nordic". In those days
Scandinavia and Nordic mainly denoted Sweden and Norway. That
changed and soon Denmark Iceland and Finland were enclosed in
the Nordic concept. |
